Let's Eat & Be Messy with The First Years Deluxe Reclining Feeding Seat (Day 12)

Today's review and giveaway comes to you from The First Years!
Here's Ruth from Viva Veltoro with the review:

When your baby starts taking solids it's important to have a good high chair to seat them in.  The First Years doesn't want you to settle for a bulky highchair - they've created the Deluxe Reclining Feeding Seat to save space in your home!  This chair does it all while taking up significantly less room than a traditional high chair.

Here are some of the great features of this seat:
  • Designed for newborns to children up to 50 lbs!
  • 5 recline positions
  • 5 point safety harness
  • Removable tray that has 3 different positions and is dishwasher safe
  • Cup holder for fewer spills
  • 2 height adjustments
  • Design allows you to push it right up to the table so your family can eat together at mealtimes
  • Easy to use
  • Saves space
  • Wipeable, washable pad
  • Removable back to convert to big kid booster
  • Fits most standard 4-legged chairs
I was sent this Deluxe Reclining Feeding Seat for review:

I was relieved to see there weren't a lot of complex pieces or screws.  It was super easy to assemble.  The instruction booklet actually made sense and was easy to follow.

Once I got the seat all put together, I secured it to our chair. There are two height adjustments to ensure you get a proper fit for the chair you're using.

There are two sets of strap for securing the seat to your chair.  One set goes underneath the chair and the other set goes behind the chair.  The straps are easy to adjust & tighten to ensure you have a secure seat for your little one.   The photo below shows how the seat attaches to your dining chair (the straps had not been fully tightened yet).

Next, I tested out the reclining feature.  I really love that you're able to recline this seat for the different stages of feeding.  You can have the seat fully reclined when your baby is taking a bottle, slightly reclined when they're starting solids and need a little extra support, and fully upright once they're a little older.  To recline the seat, just pull the handle forward then twist.  Slide the seat forward to your desired level and you're ready to go.

There are 5 different settings for the reclining feature.  The photo below shows the chair in multiple positions so you can see the variation.

The Deluxe Reclining Seat comes with a five point safety harness to keep your child secured.  Here is my little guy in the safety harness, enjoying the fully reclined seat.  Doesn't he look comfy?  The pad on this seat is soft, easy to wipe down, and is completely washable.

The tray is super easy to attach and remove.  Just align the openings with the bosses on the side of the seat to fit your child.   The tray is full-size with a built in cup hold to prevent spills.   It's also dishwasher safe.

Here's the wubba, sitting in the fully upright seat with the tray in place.  I think he's expecting something to eat :)

This chair also coverts to a booster seat.  You just remove the back and shoulder straps and you're child will be eating like a big boy or girl in no time!

The First Years Deluxe Reclining Feeding Seat is a great alternative to a traditional high chair.  It takes up significantly less space, is easy to assemble and use, and the reclining feature is fantastic!  My little one was comfortable and the chair and cushions were very easy to clean.  Considering that it converts to a booster seat for toddlers and children, I think the price point is a great at $39.99.
